About The Site
This blog is intended as a forum for direct engagement between those who have a passing, casual, academic or professional interest in philosophical practice and philosophical subjects. That said, the content of the discussion is not limited to philosophy; do as you will.
- About the Webmaster
My name is Raleigh Miller. I am a graduate student in philosophy. I received my masters in philosophy at Georgia State University and my bachelors in Philosophy (&etc.) at Drake University. I am now at the Ohio State University pursuing a PhD. My research interests (currently) are in analytic metaphysics, particularly aspect, perspectival facts, temporality and modality. This is an extremely recent development, but I think it might stick. I have worked on other stuff too, such as Kant, Hegel, moral psychology, two-dimensional semantics, moral semantics, metaethics, experimental philosophy, free will, and philosophy of mind. What I lack in focus I make up for in presumption.
I am always interested in people’s reactions to my papers, from the very general to the very specific. Any time you dedicate to engaging with my work is time that I will appreciate and (if appropriate) reciprocate. If you’re considering joining me in the quest for philosophical clarity by dedicating the time and energy to read and comment upon my papers, I ask that you read this first. I’d be honored by anyone who cared to help me out by consulting with me on these papers.
Besides philosophy, I geek out on politics, nutrition, cooking, coffee, opera and classical music. Recently I’ve been experimenting with gardening and barefoot living.

I am pursuing a Ph.D. in philosophy at the Ohio State University, with a focus on moral philosophy. My interests within moral philosophy are wide-ranging, from consequentialist normative ethics to central metaethical questions to the nature of the ideal state, but currently I am working on issues in the objectivity of morality. Most specifically, I am currently pursuing a candidacy project dealing with role morality. Outside of value theory, my interests include early modern, Nietzsche, and the metaphysics of art.Outside of philosophy, I am someone who takes his interests very seriously. I read a lot, both “literary fiction” and genre fiction (mostly SF and fantasy). I play poker pretty seriously, and much of my non-philosophy time is taken up with various video games.
